Ski touring packs are designed for those starting out or putting together a second set-up who don’t want to check measurements piece by piece.

What’s included and what you need to add

  • Included: skis, pin bindings and climbing skins. On each pack’s product page you can check the brake width and skin measurements.
  • To add: ski touring boots with inserts for pin bindings.
  • If you go off-piste: avalanche safety equipment (avalanche transceiver, shovel and probe).

Which pack to choose

A ski with a waist width of around 82 to 86 mm is the most versatile: light for climbing and wide enough for descending in variable snow. Wider ones, around 95 mm, float better in powder at the cost of a little extra weight. For length, aim for between chin and nose height, slightly shorter than on piste, as it’s lighter and easier to handle in kick turns.
